WHAT IS PHYSICAL EDUCATION?
Your child is entitled to a balanced programme of Physical Education. Physical Education is concerned with the principles behind good health and physical fitness, and with participating in a range of physical activities designed to satisfy the needs, abilities and interests of individual children.
THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM AND EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The range of physical activities is wide and may include, athletics, dance, games, gymnastics, football, hockey, netball, basketball, rugby, volleyball, badminton, cricket, health related fitness, exercise to music, lacrosse, tennis, outdoor adventurous activities and rounders. All activities are designed to be enjoyable, vigorous, purposeful and regular, to give your child the maximum benefit.
In Years 7, 8 and 9 each student has two 1 hour lessons and in Years 10 and 11 they have one 1 hour lesson. Students can also study for GCSE PE and BTEC Sport qualifications during their time in Years 10 and 11.
Many activities take place during lunchtime and after school. There are teams entered into most of the above mentioned sports – with several teams competing at city and county levels
